Training Tips

1. Alternate Easy & hard days of training
2. Run with others
3. Warm up & Cool down
4. Stay Hydrated and fueled up
5. Wear proper shoes & running gear
6. Mind the surface on which you run
7. Be careful of injuries
8. Listen to your body - if your body feel particularly tired one day, heed its call & take rest.
9. Taper before the race - last 21 days before the marathon. During this time, you should run less & rest a lot more by reducing your weekly & long run mileage. This allows you to fully recover from the previous workouts and prepare for the actual marathon. Your individual training schedule will have more specific information on how much should you taper your runs in the final three weeks.

Toilet & Hygiene

Efforts to lessen the chance of inconvenient bathroom issues and deal them gracefully have been common among marathon runners. Nowadays runners are very careful with diets whereas timing of the last meal has to be early so that your body has enough time to fully digest the meal and get rid of the waste before race time.

Special tips for girl runners

If you’re menstruating, use unscented sanitary products to avoid discomfort, and change your tampon or pad right after you run. The most comfortable and hygienic option will be to use a menstrual cup which can definitely make the run a comfortable one. In case of any emergency, volunteers at medical stations are definitely going to help out.

Clothing tips

Make sure you wear less clothing than you require as by overdressing you can risk dehydration and it may prevent your body from properly cooling down. A runner should have a regular bath or shower to help keep them clean and free of odors. You are suggested to wear underwear and running shorts with looser fitting and built in liners. Avoid, snug fitting underwear’s that can sometimes cause irritation. Side by side, you must wear good quality and clean socks which can prove out to be a great investment as it can minimize the occurrence of painful blisters.

Refreshment Zone

Long distance running is definitely a challenging assignment and that is why Kolkata Police caters water, refreshment and energy drinks to the runners at various points in the whole course of the marathon.

Kolkata Police provides world class facilities at Kolkata Police Safe Drive Save Life Half Marathon. Like all popular marathons over the world, ambulance and CCU facilities are there for all sorts of assistance and CCU infrastructure is also accorded for emergency.

BIB Number & T-Shirt distribution

The BIB Number & T-Shirt distribution will start from 02-Jan-2020 to 04-Jan-2020 at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Sahid Khudiram Bose Road (Besides Netaji Indoor Stadium), Kolkata. 
These are not only prerequisite for various categories on the day of the event, but also true mementos of the occasion.
